The Best Design Materials for Longevity

In architecture, durability and longevity are two of the most important factors when selecting design materials for commercial spaces. With durable materials, renovations and maintenance are infrequent which saves property owners money. Frameworks Manufacturing shares why glass, wood, and aluminum are 3 of the best design materials for longevity:

Glass

Contrary to popular belief, glass can be quite durable. In construction, tempered glass is the preferred choice, as it is controlled by thermal or chemical treatments for improved safety. Glass is easy to clean and can remain free of scratches and chips if taken care of.

For aesthetic purposes, glass is sleek, modern, and minimalist. Glass partitions are often used in commercial spaces because glass amplifies natural light, opens up your space, and reduces sound for greater privacy.

Many of our aluminum framing systems accommodate glass partitions, including our SlimLine series.

Wood

Wood can last anywhere from decades to centuries, especially well-maintained interior wood because it is treated and not exposed to the elements.

Wood is a classic choice in commercial spaces, as it exudes professionalism and provides a bit more privacy and sound reduction than glass. Wood also provides versatility in design, as you can change its appearance with paints, stains, and lacquers.

Our Serenity — STC 35 system utilizes Type II aluminum frames and STC (Sound Transmission Class) rated wood doors from Graham and Maiman for maximum privacy.

Aluminum

Aluminum is one of the greatest materials for exterior and interior design because it has such a long lifespan. Aluminum is not only 100% recyclable (75% of all aluminum ever produced is still in use today), but resistant to corrosion and rust as well.

Aside from its durability, aluminum is the preferred choice for commercial spaces because it is versatile. Interior aluminum frames accommodate a number of doors and partitions for a unique, custom look. When paired with glass partitions, aluminum framing systems allow for more natural light which reduces utility costs. Much like glass and wood, aluminum reflects soundwaves for greater privacy.

Our Type I and Type II aluminum framing systems are customizable, allowing you to create a commercial space that supports your needs and greater productivity.

Frameworks Manufacturing specializes in sleek, modern designs with concealed fastenings, rich colors, and recessed glazing pockets to add an architecturally-pleasing design aesthetic to any project.
